The Red Hot Organization and the(RED) initiative are currently teaming up to release (RED) Hot + Fela, a new fundraising Fela Kuti tribute compilation. And on the comp’s version of “Lady,” tUnE-yArDs teams up with Roots drummer/bandleader ?uestlove, Beninoise singer-songwriter Angélique Kidjo, and Ghanaian-American rapper Akua Naru. And other than the pretty-unnecessary Naru verse, it does a nice job paying homage to Fela’s frantic, drawn-out rhythmic intensity. Listen below. [via Sterogum.]
